Theatre and Dance School in Gateshead

Eve Trew’s School of Dance was set up in 1957, offering students the opportunity to learn ballet.

Now as a Life member of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), an International examiner and adjudicator of dance and, with over 50 years’ experience, Eve Trew has built up a deserved reputation as one of the region’s leading authorities on dance and choreography.

The Eve Trew School of Dance is now one of the best known schools in the North East, taking on pupils from the age of 2½ years up. Eve Trew has remained Principal of the School and is ever committed to providing all pupils with a first class, comprehensive grounding in the art of dance.

In 1995 we started the Gateshead Childrens Arts and Theatre School (CATS) in order to provide a more thorough training in the arts. CATS takes place on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings and is also now recognised as one of the best theatre schools in the region.

Now in its sixth decade, the School has expanded and has seen much advancement. Recent developments include:

Bokwa Fitness The latest dance fitness craze about to hit the UK by storm – this fun-filled exercise programme is suitable for all ages and abilities. Come and join one of our free taster sessions from September 2001 to learn more.

Street Boyz These classes have given boys the opportunity to develop their dancing skills in a male-orientated environment.

PartyKidz A team of dance teachers and entertainers available for parents to hire to liven up their child’s Birthday Party.

Ladies Street & Zumba These classes have both proved to be enormously popular with the ladies.

Zumbatomic The adult Zumba classes have proved so popular that we have now introduced Zumbatomic for kids. These fun high energy classes are sure to be a big hit with children aged 4-12 years.
